After see A Streetcar Named Desire we understand why Cate Blanchett decided to play this awesome character: Blanche Dubois
She is a well-dressed woman always concerned about her appearance! In the play, her upper-class mentality is the main issue for this social drama. Her sister Stella has married someone of lower status, Stanley Kowalski - brutish but still handsome.
Even if the end is predictable, it was this story which gave to Tennessee Williams notoriety when he won his first Pulitzer Prize for Drama in 1947.
If you don't have a Halloween party to go, I'd reccomend watching classical horror movies:
DRACULA - Bela Lugosi turns in a landmark horror performance in this 1931 adaptation of Bram Stoker's classic vampire novel. Revisit Transylvania for the eerie mood created by spectacular cinematography and Lugosi's oft-copied take on the infamous Dracula. Dwight Frye as Renfield also helps define the grotesque and sniveling sidekick role.
NOSFERATU - 1921. Many horror freaks call F.W. Murnau's silent German classic the scariest Dracula adaptation ever. The bone-chilling tale kicks off when a sailor on a ghost ship opens a coffin, thereby releasing a vampire named Count Orlok who sets off on a rampage of terror aimed at a real estate agent and his comely wife. The creepy caped one is played by Max Schreck, sporting grotesque makeup that transforms him into a symbol of pestilence and decay.
